Abduction and Ransom Demand
Suspected kidnappers who abducted Mrs Morenike Falona, the wife of an Irele-based motorcycle dealer, have reportedly contacted her family and demanded N100 million for her release. The 35-year-old businesswoman was taken from her home in Ode-Irele, headquarters of Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Wednesday night, June 17, 2026, in the presence of her family members.
Family Source Reveals Details
A source close to the family disclosed that the abductors made contact approximately 48 hours after the incident, finally calling a family member at about 5:30 pm on Thursday to make their demand. The source stated that the kidnappers demanded the sum of N100 million.
Police Response
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the abduction but said the command was not aware of any negotiation between the suspected kidnappers and the victim's family. He stated that concerted intelligence-driven efforts were ongoing in collaboration with other security agencies and non-conventional security outfits to ensure the victim was rescued safely and unharmed. Jimoh denied knowledge of any contact between the suspected abductors and the family, assuring that she would be rescued without payment of ransom.
