Lagos Task Force Denies Extortion on Sheraton Bridge

The Lagos State Task Force has strongly denied allegations that its officers are stationed around the Sheraton Link Bridge inward Opebi and along Toyin Street to arrest unsuspecting motorists making turns in those areas. An anonymous individual had earlier warned motorists against turning in the vicinity, claiming that Task Force officials were positioned to apprehend and extort them.

Official Response

Reacting to the claims, the Director of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Task Force, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, described the allegations as false and misleading. He clarified that the Task Force had suspended all traffic enforcement operations following a directive issued by the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, on April 1, 2026.

Focus on Environmental Enforcement

Abdulraheem added that the agency’s recent operations have been concentrated on environmental enforcement and the arrest of miscreants, rather than traffic-related offences. He urged the public to disregard the claims, assuring that the Task Force remains committed to enforcing the law and ridding the state of criminal elements.
