Man Allegedly Hangs Himself in Ondo Community

A man identified only as Friday has allegedly taken his own life in Oda Town, located in the Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State. The deceased, popularly known as 'Koko', was said to be a native of Cross River State.

According to reports, he hanged himself in a dilapidated building situated near the residence of his mother and siblings in the Emiloro community of the town. His body was discovered on the morning of Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and was subsequently brought down and placed on the floor.

The tragic incident has drawn an outpouring of grief, with sympathizers and residents gathering at the scene to console the family. Speaking to Hope Newspaper on condition of anonymity, one of the deceased's friends expressed shock over the event, noting that Koko had previously advised some of his peers against frequenting nightclubs.

“I don’t know what could have led him to take his life,” the friend said. Another associate, visibly emotional, revealed that he had been on his way to meet the deceased for their daily work when he received news of the tragedy.
