Ondo Police Arrest 23-Year-Old Man for Alleged Defilement of 14-Year-Old Girl
The Ondo State Police Command has taken into custody a 23-year-old man identified as Emmanuel Usman for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl in the Ijebu Owo area of the state. This arrest follows a formal complaint lodged by the victim, whose identity has been withheld for protection, at a police station on March 29, 2026.
Details of the Alleged Crime
According to police reports, the victim stated that on the same date, the suspect forcefully dragged her into his employer's office located along Ijebu Owo. There, he allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of her without her consent. The victim further disclosed that the suspect threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone, an act intended to intimidate and silence her.
Despite these threats, the victim courageously reported the matter to the police, prompting immediate and decisive action from law enforcement authorities.
Police Response and Investigation
Upon receiving the report, the police swiftly moved into action, leading to the arrest of the suspect. The command's spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the arrest to newsmen, stating that the suspect is currently in police custody. He noted that the suspect has made useful statements that are aiding the ongoing investigation.
DSP Jimoh added that the suspect will be charged to court accordingly upon the conclusion of the investigation, ensuring that justice is pursued through legal channels.
Medical Care for the Victim
In response to the incident, the victim has been taken to the General Hospital in Owo, where she received necessary medical care. This step underscores the police's commitment to addressing both the legal and health aspects of such sensitive cases.
