The Oyo State Police Command has taken a 27-year-old man, Olaitan Oloyede, into custody for the alleged s3xual assault of his neighbour's eight-year-old daughter. The incident, which reportedly occurred in the Oke-Alaro area of Ibadan, was disclosed by the police authorities in an official statement.

According to the statement released on Saturday, January 3, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the crime came to light when the young victim complained of pain in her private part to her father. The girl informed her parent that she had been s3xually violated by their neighbour, Olaitan Oloyede, sometime in October 2025.
Following this report, officers from the Oke-Alaro Police Division swiftly launched an investigation which culminated in the arrest of the suspect. The Divisional Police Officer personally led detectives to ensure the victim received immediate medical attention.
The child was taken to a hospital for a comprehensive medical examination, necessary treatment, and rehabilitation. The police confirmed that she is currently receiving the essential care and support required for her recovery.
