Man exhumes sister's skeleton, takes to bank as death proof

A bizarre incident has been reported in Odisha, India, where an elderly man exhumed his late sister's remains and took her skeleton to a bank to prove she had died. The man, identified as Jitu Munda, had been attempting to withdraw approximately Rs 20,000 from his sister's account at a local bank following her death in January. However, bank officials insisted on proper documentation before processing the request.

Frustrated attempts lead to shocking action

After multiple failed attempts, Munda dug up his sister's grave and brought her skeleton to the bank as proof of her death, leaving staff and customers in a state of shock. According to reports, the situation was compounded by his lack of formal education, as he struggled to understand the required process for accessing funds from a deceased person's account.

Police intervention and resolution

Police later intervened, describing the incident as a communication gap between the man and bank officials. Authorities confirmed that steps would be taken to help him access the funds through proper procedures. The remains were eventually returned and reburied under police supervision. It was also gathered that the person listed as nominee on the account had died, leaving Munda as the only surviving claimant.
