Man Receives Three Life Sentences for Murdering Family and Drowning Toddler
A man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to the brutal murders of three family members, including a one-year-old child, in a case that has shocked the community of Reading, Pennsylvania. Jose Luis Rodriguez received three consecutive life sentences following his guilty plea to three counts of first-degree murder, as confirmed by the Berks County District Attorney's Office.
Details of the Tragic Incident
Authorities reported that on September 13, 2025, 31-year-old Junior Cabrera-Colon was discovered shot to death. Investigators soon realized that his wife, Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo, and their one-year-old son, Jeyden Peguero, were also missing. A week later, the mother and child were found in a wooded area, with the toddler partially submerged in a marshy location.
Prosecutors stated that Rodriguez admitted to killing all three victims. In court, an assistant district attorney detailed that Rodriguez picked up Peguero-Mancebo and her son, shot her, and then drowned the child before later killing Cabrera-Colon. The prosecutor emphasized that each of the three killings was premeditated, carried out with specific intent to kill and with malice.
Motives and Family Impact
According to reports from Fox 29, Rodriguez told investigators he had some sort of relationship with Peguero-Mancebo and cited financial disputes as a motive. Family members expressed the difficulty of the case, with cousin Heinel Medrano noting, We are grateful because it is not a relief, but the closing of a chapter. The sentencing brings a measure of closure to a heartbreaking ordeal that has deeply affected the family and local community.
