The suspect, identified as Damian Oforbuike, reportedly attacked his mother, Onyemaechi, with a machete over the weekend, leading to her tragic death.

According to reports, Damian Oforbuike fled into a nearby forest immediately after the attack. However, youths from the community swiftly mobilized and tracked him down, apprehending him in his hiding spot. In a viral video that has circulated widely, the suspect was paraded around the community by the youths, where he openly admitted to the heinous crime.
During the parade, Damian confessed that his motive stemmed from his mother's refusal to bathe him and her failure to provide financial support for his brother, who had completed an apprenticeship in barbing and needed funds to rent a shop and start a salon. "I killed my mother because she refused to bathe me and also refused to rent a shop for my brother who learned barbing and needed money to start," he stated in the video.

The councillor representing the area, Maduabuchi Nweke, confirmed the incident, revealing that he mobilized over 200 youths to comb the forest and arrest the suspect. Following the apprehension, the community took decisive action by banishing Damian Oforbuike, issuing a stern warning that he must never return.
