Man kills parents after $10K bail, then dies by suicide

Justin Sislo, 35, fatally shot his parents, Donna Walker-Sislo, 72, and Steve Sislo, 76, at their Madison, New York home on Friday, August 7, before turning the gun on himself, according to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, as reported by WSYR.

Bail and Prior Charges

The parents had paid $10,000 to bail their son out of jail less than a month before the shooting, after his arrest for attacking his girlfriend. Court records indicate Sislo faced multiple counts of second-degree strangulation against his 56-year-old girlfriend, along with multiple firearm offenses.

Despite being barred from possessing firearms following his recent arrest, police found a gun inside the home. The bodies were discovered after authorities spotted them through a window, described as "obviously deceased."

Scene and Prior Incidents

Officers detected a smell of propane or gasoline in the house. Sislo's court date had been scheduled for August 21, according to records.

WSYR reported that police had responded to a domestic incident between Sislo and his father in 2024, but no charges were filed. The relationship appeared rocky, as indicated by that prior call.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities piecing together the events leading to the tragic deaths.
