A Nigerian man, Toshiba Ihediri, has expressed profound gratitude to God for sparing his life in a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of 15 Umuahia traders. The victims perished in the crash while returning from a traditional marriage ceremony in Enugu state on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
A Miraculous Decision
Ihediri, who is a neighbor to the groom, revealed that he made a life-saving decision after waiting for five hours for the bus to fill up. According to his testimony, he felt a divine instruction prompting him to disembark from the coaster bus, leading him to abandon the journey altogether.
"God, I thank You for saving me yesterday. God, You did it all alone," Ihediri wrote in a heartfelt post. "You instructed me to silently get down from that coaster bus, and I listened to Your voice and decided not to embark on that journey to Enugu again."
The Tragic Aftermath
After sitting in the bus from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Ihediri changed his mind and opted not to travel. Shortly after, the bus he was supposed to be on was involved in a devastating accident at a spot along the route. Reports indicate that twelve individuals lost their lives instantly, while others remain unconscious and in critical condition.
Reflecting on the potential consequences, Ihediri pondered, "What would have been the fate of my aged mother, wife, kids, siblings, relatives, and close friends?" He emphasized that many lives were lost in that very coaster bus, underscoring the gravity of the incident.

Ihediri expressed humility and awe at the favor shown to him, stating, "Who am I to gain such a favor from You? I was the only person who changed my mind and decided not to travel with that coaster bus." He concluded with deep appreciation, saying, "Thank You, Lord, for You have shown me mercy. I am so grateful to You and will always remain grateful."
