Manhunt for Side Chick in Kitwe Over Wife's Death

The Zambia Police Service on the Copperbelt Province has launched a manhunt for a woman identified as Christin Ntundwe, who is accused of beating her boyfriend's wife to death. The incident occurred in Kitwe, where 26-year-old Vainess Kanyama, a mother of three, died after an alleged altercation with Ntundwe, her husband's side chick.

Incident Details and Police Report

According to Copperbelt Police Commissioner Rae Hamoonga, the incident occurred on August 18, 2026, between 15 and 16 hours in Ipusukilo, also known as Kapoto Compound in Kitwe. The matter was later reported at Riverside Police Station around 18:50 hours on the same day by 40-year-old Frank Zulu, who reported that his daughter had been found unconscious following an alleged altercation involving her husband's girlfriend.

The confrontation reportedly happened when Vainess went to confront the suspect, Christin Ntundwe, over an alleged affair with her husband. The altercation escalated, leading to the injuries that proved fatal.

Postmortem Findings and Funeral

A postmortem examination conducted on August 21, 2026, by a pathologist at Kitwe Teaching Hospital indicated that the deceased died from a brain injury, which she is suspected to have sustained after falling to the ground and hitting the back of her head. The mother of three was laid to rest on Friday, August 21.

Police Action and Public Appeal

Police have since opened a docket of murder and launched a manhunt for the suspect, Christin Ntundwe. Mr. Hamoonga further urged members of the public with information that could assist in locating and apprehending the suspect to come forward and cooperate with the police. The police are appealing for any information that could lead to the suspect's arrest, as the investigation continues.
