The SBI later confirmed that the event was "contained" to the address at 352 Brooks Road.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the SBI said: "The Caswell County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for service just before 8 a.m. today at 352 Brooks Road in Prospect Hill, NC. Deputies arriving on scene found multiple people who had been shot. One person was transported to Duke University Hospital with a gunshot wound, and there are multiple other fatalities."

Official Response

Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden, in an interview with WFMY News 2, said: "As you know, there's multiple fatalities, and we have one in the hospital, and that's pretty much all I can tell you. Everything else is under investigation at this current time. At this point, no suspects are out there. The community is safe."

The Sheriff's Office has not released information on the victims or the exact number of fatalities. The SBI has been called in to assist local deputies at the active crime scene, with crime scene investigators processing evidence and conducting interviews.
