The Federal University of Kashere (FUK) community in Gombe State is in mourning after the body of a 200-level student was recovered from a stagnant water body in Sabon Garin Yero village, near Kashere town in Akko Local Government Area. The deceased has been identified as Enoch Maisamari, a 28-year-old student of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science.
Disappearance After Graduation Party
Maisamari had been missing since Sunday, July 19, 2026. He was last seen attending a graduation party organized by the university’s final-year students. Concern grew when he failed to return home, prompting a search by friends and family. A witness told Daily Trust that Maisamari, a native of Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State, was found by the police on Tuesday morning, July 21, 2026. The source added that the police contacted the university authorities, and one of his coursemates subsequently identified the body.
Police Confirmation and Investigation
The spokesperson for the Gombe State Police Command, DSP Buhari Abdullah, confirmed the incident. He stated that the command received a report on Wednesday at about 9:30 a.m. regarding the recovery of Maisamari’s lifeless body from stagnant water in Sabon Garin Yero Village, Akko Local Government Area. “The victim was evacuated to the General Hospital, Kashere, where he was certified dead. No visible marks of violence were observed on the body. But investigation is still ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the PPRO said.
