Motorcycle Rider Arrested with Wife's Corpse in Ogun

Police authorities in Ogun State have made a shocking discovery after intercepting a motorcycle rider transporting the fresh corpse of his own wife.

Gruseome Interception Following Tip-off

On Wednesday, November 19, operatives of the Ogun State Police Command acted on credible intelligence and stopped a motorcycle rider identified as Godonu Lowe. The interception led to the discovery of a sack tied to the back of his motorcycle, which when opened, revealed the corpse of an adult female.

Police investigations later confirmed the victim was Lowe's wife, whose identity remains undisclosed. The body showed clear signs of violence, with visible injuries and bleeding around the neck area, strongly indicating foul play in her death.

Evidence Recovery and Suspect Custody

At the crime scene, police investigators recovered a blood-stained cutlass, believed to be the weapon used in the alleged murder. The prime suspect was immediately taken into custody for further interrogation and investigation.

The remains of the victim have been moved to the State Morgue in Ilaro for proper preservation and autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The autopsy results are expected to provide crucial evidence for the prosecution of the case.

Police Commissioner Commends Public Vigilance

The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, praised the anonymous informant whose tip led to the arrest. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in fighting crime across Ogun State.

"Even the slightest suspicion reported to the police could save lives," CP Ogunlowo stated, urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to assist police in crime prevention and detection.

The case highlights the ongoing challenges of domestic violence and the critical role of community vigilance in assisting law enforcement agencies to combat serious crimes in Nigeria.
