NAFDAC Busts Illegal Alcohol Syndicates in Lagos

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered two illegal alcohol production syndicates operating in Lagos State, seizing counterfeit and adulterated products valued at N350 million. The operation, based on credible intelligence, led enforcement teams to raid facilities at Zamfara Plaza within the Trade Fair Complex and parts of Lagos Island.

Details of the Raid

During the raids, officials recovered over 1,800 cartons of fake alcoholic beverages. At the Trade Fair Complex, operatives discovered makeshift production sites equipped with plastic mixing tanks, improvised filtration systems, and large quantities of empty branded bottles, corks, and packaging materials. These items were used to manufacture and package counterfeit alcoholic drinks for distribution.

Arrest and Seizure

In a related operation on Lagos Island, NAFDAC officials arrested a suspect linked to the production and retail distribution of the adulterated beverages. The agency confirmed that all seized products have been evacuated for further regulatory action.
