A Nigerian male nurse residing in the United States has shared an unsettling experience he had with a White patient, which has sparked widespread reactions online. The nurse, identified as Davidson Adams on TikTok, recounted the incident that occurred while he was still a student nurse.
The Incident
According to Adams, the patient reacted aggressively upon seeing him. 'The moment I went inside, he was looking at me in a very strange way. I greeted him and introduced myself. All of a sudden, he just flipped and took his glass of water and poured it on me, then threw the cup and spoon that were on his table,' Adams narrated. The patient then demanded a White nurse, saying, 'I don’t want this Black nurse. Can somebody give me a White nurse?'
Similar Encounter
Adams also shared a similar encounter with another White patient, noting that racism is a recurring challenge in the nursing field. 'As a nurse, you’re going to meet a lot of racists — hardcore racists. The ones that America was built on their shoulders,' he said. His video was captioned: 'Nursing will test your entire being, make sure your patience is long. Nursing is not for the weak.'
