A Nigerian mother of two, Wanda Adu, has spoken out against victim blaming following the tragic death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro, who died by suicide after allegedly being raped by a content creator. Adu emphasized that a woman's choice of clothing does not justify sexual assault or warrant any form of victim blaming.
Favour Agbro's Story
Favour Agbro, a nursing student, took her own life after she was allegedly raped by Ifeanyi Ogbonna, a 40-year-old Asaba-based content creator known as 'Odogwu of Asaba'. According to reports, Ogbonna invited Favour to Asaba under the pretense of mentoring her in content creation. He allegedly lured her to his hotel room, where he raped her. Traumatized by the assault, Favour recorded a video detailing her ordeal before consuming insecticide. She died while receiving treatment.
Victim Blaming Condemned
In a Facebook post on July 20, 2026, Ms Adu shared a throwback photo of herself at a friend's birthday party, describing herself as a '100% virgin' at the time. She wrote: 'Her DRESS IS NOT A YES!!! This was me in 100L at the university. I attended a friend's birthday party at night. I was 100% a V!RG€€N.' Adu stated that she did not dress for attention and that no one deserves to be assaulted regardless of what they wear.
She addressed those judging Favour: 'This post for those people judging late Favour who committed s¥!c!d£ after she was gr@ped by Odogwu of Asaba. I didn't dress this way because I was h0rn¥ or looking for a gr@pist's attention. I also wasn't gr@ped that year or night. The one who gr@ped me did not know me at this time. Y'all need to stop judging people by their sense of fashion. I definitely dressed for the occasion that night and it was okay.'
