Nursing Student Arrested for Exposing Health Centre Neglect

Joy Ezeugwu, a nursing student who was previously suspended for exposing the deplorable state of the Uwani Health Centre in Enugu, has reportedly been taken into custody. The claim was made by Alex Onyia, the Chief Executive Officer of Educare, who stated that she was arrested on May 4 by officers from the Police Force Headquarters Annex in Enugu. According to Onyia, the arrest was allegedly linked to directives from her former school.

Details of the Arrest

In a statement, Onyia wrote: "Joy Ezeugwu has been arrested this morning by a team from Police Force Headquarters Annex, Enugu. They were sent by her former school’s (Ezzy College of Nursing) administrator Ifeyinwa Peace Okwudu. Students and staff oppression have now become a norm. We will dismantle it."

Background

Ezeugwu had earlier been suspended from the college after she brought attention to the poor conditions at the Uwani Health Centre, where she was undergoing clinical training. Her actions sparked public outcry and calls for investigations into the facility's management.
