The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has denied reports that it entered into any agreement with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to collect N200 from students for mobilisation. The scheme has therefore warned students and prospective corps members against making any such payment.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the NYSC management described the claim as false and misleading. The scheme said it has no affiliation with NANS regarding any levy or fee for mobilisation processes.
According to the NYSC, the purported agreement is a figment of the imagination of those behind the rumour. The scheme urged the public to disregard any information suggesting that students are required to pay N200 to NANS for mobilisation.
Warning to Students and Corps Members
NYSC specifically warned students and prospective corps members to be wary of any individual or group demanding payment for mobilisation. The scheme emphasised that all official mobilisation processes are free of charge and any payment request is fraudulent.
The management reiterated that the only authorised fees are those published in the official NYSC guidelines. It advised students to report any suspicious demands to the nearest NYSC secretariat or the police.

The denial comes after reports circulated on social media that NANS had reached a deal with NYSC to collect N200 from each student for mobilisation. The reports caused confusion among students, prompting NYSC to issue the clarification.
