Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck clashed with police officers who attempted to arrest him shortly after he performed at a Lagos club in the early hours of today, August 29. A video clip of the incident has since gone viral on social media, showing the rapper telling the officer that the arrest is illegal.
Rapper Claims Ex Parte Motion Bars Arrest
In the footage, Odumodublvck could be heard telling the police officer, “You do not have any jurisdiction. My lawyers attended to it (the invitation). They came to your office.” The officer, however, argued that the rapper had been invited but did not show up.
When the officer asked if he was resisting an arrest, Odumodublvck responded, “I am not resisting an arrest. There is a motion ex parte that says you cannot arrest me. Why should I follow you? It is illegal.”
Police Say They Have Not Received Court Order
The police officer countered that the force had not yet received the ex parte motion. The reason for the said arrest has not been revealed as of the time of this report.
The incident took place after Odumodublvck's performance at a Lagos club, with the rapper insisting on his legal right not to be detained. The exchange highlights ongoing tensions between artists and law enforcement in Nigeria, particularly regarding the enforcement of court orders.
