The Ogun State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough in its sustained, intelligence-driven operations across Sango-Ota, Owode-Egba, and Agbado, resulting in the arrest of seven suspects linked to armed robbery, housebreaking, stealing, conspiracy, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
Arrests in Sango-Ota
According to the Command spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the coordinated operations were executed with speed, professionalism, and support from members of the public, reinforcing the Command’s commitment to sustained safety and security across the state. He disclosed that operatives of the Sango-Ota Division arrested Pelumi Akintande (21), Mojeed Sanusi (28), and Mubarak Lateef (17) following a reported armed robbery incident in Alasia community. The suspects were alleged to have participated in an attack on a resident during which valuables were forcefully taken.
Babaseyi added that acting on credible intelligence, operatives swiftly tracked and arrested the suspects, recovering a locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol and one expended cartridge allegedly used in the operation. He said investigations were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
Operations in Owode-Egba
In another operation, operatives of the Owode-Egba Division arrested Damilare Makanjuola (22) in connection with housebreaking and stealing in Ofada. He was allegedly apprehended after scaling a fence while attempting to gain unlawful entry into a shop. Further investigations reportedly linked him to other burglary incidents within Sun City Estate, Ofada, where electrical items, cash above ₦100,000, and other valuables were stolen. Recovered items have been secured as exhibits, while investigations continue.
Similarly, operatives of the Owode-Egba Division arrested Tijani Jubril (28) and Ezra Modi (22) for conspiracy and stealing within Treasure Island Estate, Awo Village. The suspects were intercepted while allegedly attempting to dispose of stolen electrical appliances concealed in a sack, reportedly removed from a residential building within the estate. The stolen items were recovered intact.
Incident in Agbado
In Agbado, operatives arrested Waris Adebesin (22) for conduct likely to cause breach of peace and alleged threat of violence. He was reportedly found armed with a knife while causing tension and disrupting activities around a secondary school environment. Police said swift intervention prevented escalation, restored calm, and ensured the safety of students and residents. The knife was recovered at the scene.
Babaseyi stated that all suspects are currently in custody undergoing discreet investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals linked to the various incidents. He added that recovered exhibits have been properly documented for evidential purposes.
Commendation and Assurance
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism, swift response, and discipline during the operations, while also appreciating members of the public for providing timely information that aided the successes recorded. The Command assured residents that the operations form part of a sustained statewide security strategy aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring lasting peace across Ogun State. It further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue reporting suspicious activities to security agencies.
