Ogun Police Arrest Two Suspected One Chance Robbery Members

Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected members of a notorious “one chance” robbery syndicate in Abeokuta. The suspects, identified as Bidemi Tijani, 29, and Olajide Rasaq, 42, were picked up on August 15, following actionable intelligence.

Syndicate's Modus Operandi

According to the command, the syndicate operates by disguising as commercial taxi operators to rob unsuspecting passengers of mobile phones, cash, and other valuables. Acting on the tip-off that members were sighted in a taxi heading toward Ita-Oshin, VCRU operatives gave chase and intercepted the vehicle.

Confessions and Ongoing Investigations

Both suspects confessed during interrogation to being active members of the gang terrorizing commuters in the state capital. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members and recover exhibits.

Police Commissioner's Response

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the VCRU for their swift and tactical response. He reiterated the Command’s resolve to rid Ogun State of criminal elements, warning that there will be no safe haven for perpetrators.
