Okada Rider Arrested with Wife's Corpse in Ogun

Police operatives in Ogun State have made a shocking arrest, intercepting a commercial motorcyclist who was allegedly transporting the fresh corpse of his wife tied in a sack on his motorcycle.

Interception During Stop-and-Search Operation

The suspect, identified as Godonu Lowe, a resident of Omolende Village, was apprehended on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at approximately 1:05 pm while attempting to escape from the community with the concealed body.

According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Omolola Odutola, the arrest followed credible intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro. The DPO was alerted that a man was fleeing the community with a woman's corpse on his motorcycle.

Police operatives swiftly moved into action, conducting a stop-and-search operation that led to the interception of the suspect. Upon examination, officers discovered a sack tied to the back of his motorcycle containing the body of an adult female.

Gruesome Discovery and Evidence Recovery

When the sack was opened, the corpse was identified as that of the suspect's wife, showing clear signs of violent assault. The body exhibited bleeding around the neck and multiple cutlass injuries, immediately raising suspicions of foul play.

Further investigation led to the recovery of a blood-stained cutlass from the crime scene, strengthening the case against the suspect. The nature of the injuries and the attempted concealment and transportation of the body pointed to a deliberate act of violence.

The suspect has been taken into police custody while the victim's remains have been moved to the State Morgue in Ilaro for autopsy and preservation. The autopsy is expected to provide conclusive evidence about the exact cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

Police Commend Public Vigilance

Commissioner of Police CP Lanre Ogunlowo has praised the community members who provided the timely information that led to the arrest. He emphasized the importance of public cooperation in crime prevention and detection.

"Even the slightest suspicion reported to the police could save lives," the CP stated, urging residents to continue providing credible information to assist security agencies in maintaining law and order.

The case continues to undergo thorough investigation as authorities work to uncover the full circumstances that led to the woman's death and the subsequent attempt to transport her body to an unknown destination.
