Ondo Man, 38, Arrested for Beating Father to Death

A 38-year-old man has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State for allegedly beating his 65-year-old father to death. The suspect, identified as Kingsley Nsikak, reportedly engaged in a heated argument with his father, Peter Adone, at their residence in the Oda area of the state.

Incident Details

According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, the deceased sustained severe injuries during the violent confrontation. Jimoh disclosed that Adone later succumbed to his injuries despite efforts by medical personnel to revive him. He stated that the remains of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue, while the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

“The tragic incident occurred in Oda Community, Akure South Local Council of Ondo State, and has generated widespread concern among residents of the area,” Jimoh said.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that on May 28, 2026, the suspect allegedly engaged his father in a violent altercation that escalated into a physical assault.”

Following a formal complaint lodged at the police station by Daniel Moses, the deceased’s son and brother to the suspect, detectives promptly commenced investigation into the matter. Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives apprehended the suspect and took him into custody for questioning.

“The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough, discreet and comprehensive investigation,” he added.

Police Commissioner Reacts

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Felix Ohagwu, condemned the act, describing it as unfortunate, reprehensible and contrary to societal values. He reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring that justice is served and that anyone found culpable of criminal offences faces the full weight of the law.

The commissioner also urged the public to shun violence in all its forms and embrace peaceful and lawful means of resolving disputes, irrespective of the circumstances. He emphasised that disagreements, whether within families or communities, should never degenerate into acts capable of resulting in injury or loss of life.
