Shocking Betrayal at Ondo University as Students Arrested for Heinous Crime

The Ondo State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in combating gender-based violence with the arrest of two students from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA). The suspects are facing serious allegations of conspiring to drug and sexually assault their 20-year-old female colleague in a case that has sent shockwaves through the academic community.

How the Predatory Scheme Unfolded

According to police spokesperson DSP Olushola Ayanlade, who confirmed the arrest on Monday, the victim had accepted an invitation to visit the home of her longtime friend, 19-year-old Queen Sodo. What began as a casual visit between friends quickly turned sinister when the victim was offered a drink that had been secretly laced with drugs.

"After noticing the victim had become incapacitated, Queen Sodo reportedly left the room, invited her male accomplice, and kept watch while the crime occurred," revealed DSP Ayanlade. The calculated nature of the attack demonstrates premeditation and careful planning by the suspects.

Timely Intervention and Police Response

The brutal assault might have gone undetected if not for the alertness of a neighbor who heard unusual sounds coming from the apartment. The concerned individual intervened and discovered the victim unconscious with the male suspect present at the scene.

Emergency services were immediately contacted, and the victim received urgent medical attention before being transferred to a specialist facility for comprehensive care. Authorities report that she is currently recovering from the traumatic experience.

Police investigations have yielded substantial evidence, including recovery of the drug-laced drink that both the victim and suspects have identified. Most significantly, both individuals have reportedly provided detailed confessions about their respective roles in the incident.

Zero Tolerance Policy and Public Warning

DSP Ayanlade emphasized the command's unwavering commitment to justice, stating that offenders will face the full weight of the law regardless of their relationship with victims. The suspects remain in lawful custody and will be transferred to the Gender Desk Office for further investigation and prosecution.

The police spokesperson issued a crucial warning to parents and guardians, urging them to educate their children about potential risks in personal relationships. He stressed that even long-standing friendships can be exploited for criminal purposes, highlighting the need for constant vigilance.

This case represents part of the Ondo State Police Command's broader efforts to strengthen responses to serious crimes and protect vulnerable members of society from predators who operate within trusted circles.
