One Arrested in Adamawa Students Robbery Attack

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one suspect in connection with an armed robbery attack that occurred near students' residences close to Adamawa State Polytechnic, Numan Campus.

According to police reports, the incident happened in the early hours of May 28, 2026, when a group of suspected criminals armed with cutlasses, sticks, and knives invaded a students' compound located behind MOPE Extension in Numan Local Government Area.

The attackers allegedly stole cash, mobile phones, power banks, and other valuables from the residents. Several victims sustained injuries of varying degrees and were rushed to the General Hospital in Numan for medical treatment.

In a statement issued on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje confirmed that operatives from the Divisional Police Headquarters in Demsa responded swiftly to a distress call and launched an investigation.

One suspect has been arrested so far, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other gang members who fled the scene. Commissioner of Police Kabir Umar Hassan has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case for a thorough and discreet investigation.

The commissioner reassured students and residents of the command's commitment to protecting lives and property across the state. “The command remains committed to protecting lives and property and will not relent in its efforts to rid the state of criminal elements,” the statement read.

The police also urged the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information to assist ongoing investigations and lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects.
