A tragic shooting at Wilmington Hospital in Delaware on Tuesday afternoon resulted in one fatality and one injury. The suspect, a 23-year-old man, was taken into custody in Philadelphia later that night, according to Wilmington police. Charges and extradition to Delaware are pending.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the hospital located in the 500 block of West 14th Street. Law enforcement agencies swarmed the area, including the Olney section near North 9th Street between Lindley Avenue and West Wellens Street. A Toyota RAV4 was towed from the scene, and the suspect was arrested around 9:30 p.m.

Law enforcement sources revealed that License Plate Readers were instrumental in tracking the suspect's movements. The suspect's identity has not been released, and the condition of the second victim remains undisclosed. The identities of the victims are also being withheld at this time.
Wilmington Hospital was placed on lockdown following the shooting, but the lockdown has since been lifted. Police believe the incident was targeted and isolated. Preliminary information from law enforcement sources suggests that the shooting began when one hospital employee shot two other employees.
