According to police reports, on March 17, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers from the Ojongbodu Area Command were conducting a routine stop-and-search patrol at Irepo Junction in the Ojongbodu area of Oyo. During this operation, they intercepted a suspicious individual walking in the vicinity. The person was promptly stopped and questioned, leading to his identification as Ayomide Kareem.
Further checks by the police confirmed that Kareem was the same suspect who had escaped from police custody at the Jobele Division on March 10, 2026. He was being held in connection with a case of suspected kidnapping at the time of his escape. The suspect is currently back in custody and is assisting the police with ongoing investigations into the matter.

Following the initial escape incident, which triggered community protests, the Commissioner of Police for Oyo State Command, CP Femi Haruna, ordered an intensive manhunt to ensure the prompt re-arrest of the suspect.
