Panic has gripped Akotogbo community in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State after the discovery of the bodies of two residents in a nearby bush. The Ondo State Police Command has deployed operatives to the area following the grim find.
Bodies Found in Separate Locations
The deceased have been identified as Loyinmi Bode and Andrew Friday. Their bodies were discovered at different locations within the community over the past month, heightening fear among residents of the agrarian settlement.
Residents have called for urgent intervention by security agencies and the state government, citing growing tension and insecurity.
Police Confirm Incident
The command's spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday. He assured the public that the police are committed to protecting lives and property.
“The command is fully aware of these developments and remains resolute in its constitutional mandate of protecting the lives and property of all law-abiding residents of Ondo State,” Jimoh said.
He added that robust security measures have been put in place within Akotogbo and neighboring communities to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
“In response, robust security measures have been emplaced within Akotogbo and its adjoining communities to prevent any breakdown of law and order and ensure sustained public safety,” Jimoh added.
The police have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with authorities as investigations continue.
