The Lagos State Police Command has formally invited a prominent cleric, Pastor Chris Okafor, for questioning over serious criminal allegations.
Police Invitation and Serious Allegations
The Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries is required to appear before investigators at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba. The police invitation stems from allegations of multiple rape and sexual offences, alongside other conduct said to be capable of disturbing public peace.
An official statement from the command confirmed the development. The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abímbólá Adebisi, acting on behalf of the Commissioner of Police. According to the police, the invitation letter has already been delivered to the pastor through his legal representative.
Scheduled Appearance and Assurance of Thorough Investigation
Pastor Chris Okafor is expected to present himself at the SCID by 10:00 am on Monday, January 5, 2026. He is to report directly to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the department.
The Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has given a direct order for a comprehensive investigation into all the allegations. The police authority has stressed that the entire process will be handled with professionalism, transparency, and without bias.
Protection for Victims and Call for Witnesses
In a move to ensure justice, the police command has confirmed that it has provided full security protection for the alleged victims. The authorities are also encouraging other individuals who may have relevant complaints or credible information pertaining to the case to step forward and assist the investigation.
The police have given firm assurances that the identities of all victims and witnesses will be kept strictly confidential to protect their privacy and safety.
Reiterating its core mandate, the Lagos State Police Command emphasized its unwavering commitment to upholding law and order. The statement declared clearly that no individual is above the law. It promised that every allegation will be scrutinized according to due process, irrespective of the suspect's social status or position.
