Former Big Brother Naija housemate Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has raised an alarm after her cameraman was allegedly picked up by men in uniform. The reality star shared a distressing video on her Instagram Story, detailing the incident and calling for public assistance.
Details of the Incident
In the video, Phyna is seen speaking with a man in uniform while a passenger sits beside him on a bus. She claimed that the men took her cameraman and laptop bag, and asked her to enter the minibus, but she refused. Phyna alleged that the men could be kidnappers because they did not introduce themselves or disclose their origin. She also noted that the bus had no plate number, despite the men wearing police uniforms.
Later, Phyna posted another update stating that the men claimed to be from the Ajah Police Station. However, when she arrived at the station, she could not find them. She appealed to the public to help draw attention to the incident through her social media posts.
Public Reaction
Fans expressed shock and concern after watching the video. Many questioned why individuals claiming to be police officers would act in such a manner. Some commenters remarked that security operatives should focus on tackling serious crimes, such as the abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State, rather than harassing citizens. Others alleged that Phyna's experience reflects the treatment many Nigerians have faced from security personnel.
One commenter, @she_is_seun, said: "This is where you see the policemen active, yet people's kids are still in the bush suffering." Another user, @kemx_cosmetics, asked: "Can't the police have sense naturally?" Meanwhile, @prettybarbie_luv made a remark about Phyna's past behavior, stating: "When u dey smoke online u no know mumu geh."
Phyna's Statement
Phyna stated: "Some men, putting on Nigerian Police uniform, carried my laptop bag and my cameraman. No name, no plate number. They didn't introduce themselves. They asked me to enter the bus. They said they are taking him to Ajah Police Station. I got there, but they were not found."
The incident has sparked widespread debate on social media, with many calling for better oversight of security personnel and increased accountability.
