Plateau Women Destroy Alcohol in Community Crackdown

Women in the Dangguruk community of Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, took decisive action against alcohol abuse on Thursday, seizing and setting ablaze large quantities of alcoholic drinks during a community-led crackdown.

The protest targeted koskolo, cheskela, and other locally brewed beverages, which the women claimed have contributed to growing irresponsibility, disorder, and hardship within families in the communities.

With chants of “No going back, koskolo must stop,” the women marched through the community, moving from one shop to another as they seized cartons, kegs, and containers of alcohol before publicly burning them.
