The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully dismantled a dangerous criminal gang specializing in robbing nightlife spots. Authorities arrested six suspected armed robbers known for terrorizing nightclubs and recreational centres across Abuja.
Intelligence-Led Operation Leads to Arrest
Acting on credible intelligence, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, issued a directive for the gang's immediate capture on Friday, January 17, 2026. The order was executed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), DCP Aliyu Abubakar.
A discreet team, led by ACP Victor Godfrey of the Scorpion Squad, tracked the suspects to their hideout. The police raided the location in the Dakwa area of Dei-Dei within the FCT. The operation took place around 5:45 p.m., catching the suspects while they were allegedly planning a new attack.
Suspects and Multi-Million Naira Heist
The police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, identified the six arrested individuals. They are Suleiman Magaji (25), Abdullahi Abubakar (20), Abubakar Shitu (25), Sani Ibrahim (17), Rabiu Dahiru (19), and Ahmen Abdullahi (26).
Preliminary investigations link the gang to several violent robberies in the territory. One major incident involved the Crystal Lounge in Wuse II. During that robbery, a hotel guest was reportedly dispossessed of gold jewellery valued at approximately Fifteen Million Naira (N15,000,000). Shockingly, the suspects allegedly sold the stolen precious items for only One Million Two Hundred Thousand Naira (₦1.2 million).
Exhibits Recovered and Next Steps
During the raid on the hideout, police operatives recovered several exhibits from the suspects. The items include:
- One black toy gun
- Assorted local charms
- Long and short knives
- Forty-two (42) bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis
SP Adeh confirmed that all the suspects and the recovered exhibits are currently in police custody. The command stated that the suspects will be formally charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
This operation highlights the FCT Police Command's commitment to leveraging intelligence and proactive measures to combat crime. It serves as a warning to criminal elements targeting entertainment hotspots in the nation's capital.
