The Benue State Police Command has announced the arrest of seven additional suspects, including an 80-year-old man, in connection with the murder of Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Benue State, and Yakubu Isa. The two victims were killed on July 1, 2026, while returning from a security meeting organized by the Divisional Police Officer in Ohimini Local Government Area.

Details of the Arrests

The command's spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, disclosed the arrests in a statement on Saturday, July 11, 2026, stating that the latest round of arrests followed sustained intelligence gathering, detailed investigations, and coordinated tactical operations. The newly arrested suspects are: Chief Morgan Ejaga (43), Chief Moses Anteyi (45), Chief John Ogli (58), Chief Yawuhu Adaji (49), Sylvester Ajonye (80), Aba Alexander Uloko (59), and Fidelis Iduma (45).

Total Arrests Reach 17

This development comes after the earlier arrest of 10 suspects linked to the case, bringing the total number of arrests so far to 17. The Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, praised the officers involved in the investigation for their professionalism and assured residents that the investigation is still ongoing. He stressed that everyone found to have played any role in the killings would be brought to justice.
