Police Arrest Cattle Rustlers, Recover Stolen Cow in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspects, Muhammed Monsur and Olaseinde Olatunji, and recovered exhibits including a stolen cow valued at N1.7 million, a knife, and an operational vehicle used in the crime. The arrests followed a swift response to a distress call from a farmer in the Ifo/Ibogun axis of the state.

Incident Details

The incident occurred yesterday at about 2:30 a.m., when suspected cattle rustlers invaded a dairy farm at Omitoro Village via Coker, Ifo/Ibogun, and stole a cow. Upon receiving the distress call, operatives mobilized to the scene for immediate intervention. The suspects, who attempted to flee in a minibus popularly known as “Korope”, were intercepted after an alarm was raised over their suspicious movements. The prompt response led to their arrest.

Police Statement

Confirming the incident in a statement yesterday, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said exhibits recovered include one stolen cow, a knife, and the operational minibus used in perpetrating the crime. According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are part of a four-man gang, while two accomplices escaped into the surrounding bush.
