Police in Ogbomosho, Oyo state, have arrested the father of Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi, the man accused of operating a fake N1.3 billion 'ghost agency' in Nigeria. Security operatives stormed the family residence on Monday, July 6, 2026, detaining Adeyemi's father and a family friend who had visited that morning.
Arrests Leave Elderly Mother in Shock
According to The Punch, the arrests left Adeyemi's elderly mother in shock. The Guardian also confirmed the development. Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) condemned the arrests, stating there is no legal basis for substituted arrests.
Falana Questions Legal Basis
Falana said: 'The father has been arrested. There is no legal basis for substituted arrests. The young man has promised to show up in court, so why arrest his father?' The case involves an alleged N1.3 billion fraud linked to the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Implementation Council (PFIPC).
