The Yobe State Police Command has apprehended four individuals suspected of drug dealing and confiscated numerous tramadol capsules and other illicit substances during a raid on a criminal hideout in Kolere community, Fune Local Council. This operation is part of intensified efforts to curb crime across the state.
Police spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim announced in a statement from Damaturu that operatives achieved a major breakthrough following a crackdown on criminal hideouts in Kolere village. He stated that the police have continued to record significant successes after targeting notorious drug dealers and criminal hideouts in the area.
According to Abdulkarim, operatives from the Area Command in Potiskum conducted a coordinated raid on May 6, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m. in Borno Kichi market, which is known as a notorious hideout for criminal gangs involved in drug peddling and harboring criminals. Four suspects were arrested: Nafizu Adamu, 25; Babale Idi, 25; Shuaibu Mohammed, 35; and Shuaibu Musa, 22. They were found in possession of tramadol capsules, assorted hard drug tablets, Indian hemp, and rubber solution known as "Sholi." All suspects are residents of Kolere village in Fune Local Council.
Commissioner of Police Usman Kanfani Jibrin commended the operatives for their successful operation and directed officers across the state to maintain the offensive against criminal syndicates. He warned criminals to cease unlawful activities or face the full force of the law. An investigation is ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court upon its completion.
In a separate incident, operatives of the Special Area Rumudomaya, also known as Rumuokoro Police Division, under the Rivers State Police Command, arrested a man identified as Mr. Goodnews for allegedly defiling his neighbor's 16-year-old daughter in Obio/Akpor Local Council of Rivers State.
A family friend of the victim's parents, Mr. Chidi Obulor, said the incident occurred on Monday, May 4, 2026, along Apu Road, Rupokwu. The suspect, in his late twenties and living in the same compound as the victim's family, allegedly lured the teenager into his apartment under the pretext of sending her on an errand before sexually assaulting her. The victim's parents immediately reported the matter to the police, leading to the suspect's arrest.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for medical examination and treatment. Rivers State Police Command spokesperson ASP Agabe Blessing confirmed the arrest and stated that an investigation has begun. The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Port Harcourt for further investigation.
