The Yobe State Police Command has arrested four suspects for illicit drug offences and recovered dozens of tramadol capsules in the Kolere community, located in Fune Local Council Area of the state. The arrests were made as part of renewed strategies to combat crime and criminality across the state.
Police Operation Details
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the police have continued to record significant breakthroughs following a successful crackdown on notorious drug dealers and criminal hideouts in Kolere village. In a statement issued in Damaturu, he disclosed that a coordinated operation was carried out by the Area Command in Potiskum on 6th May 2026 at about 3:00 p.m. Police operatives raided the Borno Kichi market, a notorious hideout used by criminal gangs allegedly involved in drug peddling and harbouring criminal elements.
Suspects and Recovered Items
During the operation, four suspected drug dealers were arrested. They include Nafizu Adamu, 25; Babale Idi, 25; Shuaibu Mohammed, 35; and Shuaibu Musa, 22. All suspects are residents of Kolere village in Fune LGA. The police recovered various illicit substances from them, including dozens of tramadol capsules, assorted hard drug tablets, Indian hemp, and rubber solution popularly known as Sholi.
Police Commissioner's Response
The Commissioner of Police, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, commended the operatives for the successful operation and directed personnel across the state to sustain the ongoing offensive against criminal syndicates and other related crimes. The CP also warned criminals to desist from unlawful activities or face the full wrath of the law. He confirmed that investigation is ongoing, after which the suspects will be charged to court accordingly.
