The Niger State Police Command has arrested a man for the murder of his younger brother in Rijau Local Government Area of the state. The incident was reported at about 4:30 p.m. on June 21, 2026, at the Rijau Divisional Headquarters by Abubakar Dangiwa of Iri Village.
Altercation leads to fatal attack
According to the report, a misunderstanding occurred earlier that day at about 3:00 p.m. between two brothers, Bello Nani and Babuga Dangiwa, both of the same address. During the altercation, Bello Nani allegedly macheted his younger brother, Babuga Dangiwa, leading to his death. The victim died at the scene.
Police response and investigation
Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) mobilized officers to the scene, where the victim was found lifeless. The body was evacuated to the General Hospital, Tungan-Magajiya, for autopsy and preservation. The suspect has since been arrested, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
