The Cross River State Police Command has taken three individuals into custody following a violent incident where an angry mob fatally assaulted a suspected armed robber in Calabar. The tragic event unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, January 25, 2026, in the Abangasang area of Mbora Street, Calabar.

According to ASP Sunday Eitokpah, the police spokesperson, the command's Anti-Kidnapping Unit intervened to prevent further mob action against the suspect, who was allegedly attempting to rob a woman.
