Police foil abduction attempt of 6-year-old girl in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has foiled an attempted abduction of a 6-year-old girl and arrested a teenage suspect in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area. The victim, Nora Luka, was rescued unhurt and reunited with her parents.

Arrest of the Suspect

The command's spokesperson, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident in a statement on 18th August, 2026. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), police operatives received credible information that 18-year-old Abdullahi Sa’adu, a resident of Anguwan Eti Salat, Mayo Belwa, had attempted to forcefully abduct Nora Luka, a six-year-old from Anguwan Tsakuwa, also in Mayo Belwa.

Acting on the tip, a police patrol team from the Mayo Belwa Divisional Headquarters promptly intercepted the suspect and took him into custody. The victim was rescued unharmed and handed over to her parents for safety.

Police Statement and Community Response

The statement read: “The Adamawa State Police Command has foiled an attempted abduction of a 6-year-old girl following the prompt intervention of Police operatives attached to Mayo Belwa Divisional Headquarters.”

The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, fdc, commended the police patrol team and members of the community for their swift response and professionalism. He reassured the public that the Command remains committed to the protection of children and other vulnerable members of society.

Investigation and Public Appeal

Investigation into the incident is ongoing, after which the suspect will be arraigned in court upon conclusion.
