The Ondo State Police Command has launched an intensive manhunt for a man identified as Sodiq Ganiyu following the mysterious death of a young woman at a popular hotel in Ore.

The incident occurred at a hotel located along the busy Ore–Okitipupa Road in Odigbo Local Council Area, where Ganiyu had checked in with the yet-to-be-identified lady for an overnight stay.

Discovery of the Lifeless Body

Hotel staff made the grim discovery after repeated knocks on the room door went unanswered. Using a spare key to access the room, they found the young woman lying motionless on the bed with no visible signs of violence or physical marks on her body.

According to eyewitness accounts, "The girl checked into the hotel with a man, Sodiq Ganiyu, to spend the night. The two were seen together earlier in the day, but when staff gained access to the room, the lady was found lifeless."

The suspect had allegedly fled the scene before the discovery, leaving his whereabouts unknown. Hotel management promptly reported the incident to the police, triggering an immediate response from law enforcement authorities.

Police Investigation and Autopsy Plans

Police Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed that preliminary examinations revealed no external injuries on the deceased's body. The victim's remains have been deposited at a mortuary in Ore, while authorities have scheduled a full autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

"Efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect," stated Ayanlade, emphasizing the command's determination to bring the perpetrator to justice.

The hotel, known as a regular stop and social hub for travelers and area residents, was besieged by curious onlookers following the incident, creating a scene of commotion and speculation.

Separate Police Officer Murder in Akure

In a related development, the Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected hoodlums for allegedly stabbing a police officer to death in Akure, the state capital.

The suspects, identified as Shina Jacob, 25, and Felix Olalekan, 32, allegedly attacked the police inspector during an altercation at Oke-Arata within the Arakale axis.

According to police accounts, the officer was recently transferred from the Anti-Cultism Unit to B-Division before the tragic incident. After being stabbed, the area was thrown into panic as residents and traders hurriedly fled the scene.

Police Response and Suspect Arrests

Police Commissioner deployed a team of operatives to the scene immediately after the incident, resulting in the swift arrest of the two suspects directly connected to the attack.

"An altercation ensued between the officer and some recalcitrant individuals, during which the officer was tragically stabbed. This unfortunate event triggered an immediate and coordinated police response," explained Police Spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade.

The injured officer was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away while receiving treatment. This killing comes just days after a personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) was stabbed to death by a mentally unstable man in Oba-Ile area of Akure.
