Lagos Police Launch Investigation into Tragic Studio Deaths of Gospel Artiste and Three Others
The Lagos State Police Command has initiated a comprehensive investigation following the shocking discovery of four deceased individuals inside a music studio located in the Ajah area of the state. The tragic incident, which occurred last Tuesday, February 3, has sent ripples of concern throughout the local community and the broader entertainment industry.
Details of the Fatal Studio Incident
Among the victims was a popular gospel blogger widely recognized as Joes Media TV. The four individuals had been invited to perform at a three-day virtual birthday praise event organized by a woman identified as Olanireti Akinbola. Due to the considerable distance from their respective homes to the studio, they opted to sleep inside the facility after completing their recordings, intending to return home the following day.
Tragically, all four were found dead inside the studio the next morning. Disturbing reports indicate that blood stains were visible in their noses, ears, and mouths, adding a layer of mystery to the already heartbreaking situation.
Uncertain Causes and Ongoing Speculations
The exact cause of their deaths remains uncertain at this time. However, preliminary speculations from local sources suggest possible factors such as food poisoning or inhalation of generator fumes. The police have emphasized that these are merely theories and that a thorough investigation is required to determine the precise circumstances leading to this tragedy.
Police Confirmation and Initial Reports
Confirming the incident to journalists, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, provided crucial details. She revealed that the studio owner, Akintayo Akinbola, who is also the husband of the celebrant Olanireti Akinbola, reported the incident on Wednesday, February 4.
According to SP Adebisi, Akintayo informed the police that on Tuesday, he purchased food for the artists and delivered it to them at the studio. Afterward, he left them there and returned to his residence. The following day, he returned to the studio at approximately 11 PM and was alarmed to find the door locked.
After repeated attempts to knock and gain entry, he raised an alarm. With the assistance of neighbors, the door was forcibly opened, revealing the lifeless bodies of the four artists inside.
Autopsy and Preservation of Evidence
SP Adebisi further disclosed that the corpses have been transferred to the Mainland General Hospital mortuary in Yaba for autopsy and preservation. This step is critical for the investigation, as it will help establish the cause of death and provide potential clues regarding the events that transpired.
