In a decisive late-night operation, the Oyo State Police Command has captured a suspected armed robber and retrieved a stolen motorcycle in the Olorunda Aba area of Ibadan.

Swift Response to Distress Call

The incident unfolded on December 25, 2025, around 10:30 p.m., when police operatives from the Olorunda Aba Division reacted to an urgent distress call. According to the command's Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, two armed men on an unregistered motorcycle, brandishing machetes, had attacked residents Mutiu Adeyemo and Akinpelu Ojo in the Adanla Area of Eniosa.

The assailants forcefully seized the victims' TVS motorcycle. Upon noticing an approaching police patrol team, the suspects attempted a frantic escape, initiating a high-speed pursuit through the area.

Chase and Capture of Suspect

During the intense chase, one of the fleeing suspects abandoned the recently stolen motorcycle and disappeared into nearby bushland. His accomplice, however, was not as fortunate.

Sunday Onah, identified as the second suspect, lost control and fell from his motorcycle while trying to evade the police. He was swiftly apprehended at the scene. During interrogation, Onah confessed to participating in the robbery and admitted to being involved in similar criminal activities in the past.

The recovered TVS motorcycle has been secured as vital evidence for prosecution. Police authorities have confirmed that manhunt operations are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Femi Haruna, praised the responding officers for their professionalism and swift action which led to the successful arrest. He has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive and detailed investigation.

CP Haruna used the opportunity to urge residents to maintain active collaboration with the police by providing timely and credible information to aid in crime prevention and detection.
