Victim Identified as Shelby Amidon
Shelby Amidon, who was married and expecting her second child, was fatally shot at her home. Authorities confirmed that the victim identified her attacker, Ricky O'Neil Beck Jr., 43, as her stalker during a desperate 911 call she made after being wounded. Reports indicate that Beck had been stalking Amidon for an unspecified period prior to the violent attack.
Stalker Flees Scene and Evades Police
Following the shooting, Beck fled the scene in his Chevrolet Z71 pickup truck, which contained a silver toolbox. An alert was promptly issued by local police departments to locate the suspect. Senior ALEA Trooper Brandon Bailey reported observing Beck brandishing a firearm while intentionally ramming a Blount County sheriff deputy's patrol vehicle during the pursuit.
The deputy discharged his weapon in response, but Beck managed to escape, initiating a widespread manhunt across the region. The search concluded later that same day when Beck's body was discovered in a wooded area. Investigators determined that he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
