Sunday Igbiri, the brother of Caroline Igbiri, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, has demanded justice. The suspect, identified as Richard Nangibo, was arrested by police for allegedly killing Caroline during a domestic dispute over allegations of infidelity in Eneka, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Incident details
The incident occurred on Saturday, July 11, 2026. According to reports, the confrontation began when the suspect accused the deceased of being unfaithful. Residents said the disagreement escalated into a physical assault, during which the woman allegedly fell and struck her head against a sharp edge of a wall, suffering fatal injuries.
Family's accusations
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, July 15, Sunday claimed that Richard is an internet fraudster and had manipulated his sister in order to use her for ritual purposes. He also accused the suspect's family of ignoring them and attempting to use money to manipulate the case.
"My sister was murdered. I'm still in shock that she died as a result of a Yahoo boy who manipulated her and wanted to use her for his yahoo plus. Unfortunately for him he got caught by the police and the said parents of the boy have ignored us up until now," he wrote.
Appeal for intervention
Sunday called on the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), the Nigeria Police Force, concerned citizens, and politicians to intervene. He alleged that the suspect's elder brother, identified as Richman Nangibo, is trying to manipulate the process. "He feels we are poor and he can oppress us with his blood money. Please take it as a distress call. The name of the murderer is Richard Nangibo. He murdered Caroline Sunday Igbiri," Sunday added.
