South African Activist Taunts Nigerians Over Mexico Support

A South African activist, Jacinta Zinhle MaNgobese Zuma, has directed sharp criticism at Nigerians and other African nationals for backing Mexico during the FIFA World Cup opening match against Bafana Bafana. The match, which took place last night, ended in a 2-0 victory for Mexico.

The incident comes amid rising xenophobic tensions and anti-foreigner protests in South Africa. In response to the unrest, many African nationals had earlier vowed to withdraw their support from the South African national team. During the tournament opener, fans from Nigeria and other African countries openly rallied behind Mexico.

Following the match, Jacinta took to Facebook to express her displeasure. She wrote: 'You see. Supporting Mexico still didn't fix your country. You're still not Mexican; you're still from a country that is underdeveloped!'
