Sister Accuses Husband of Abuse and Neglect Following Woman's Tragic Death
A Nigerian woman has publicly accused her late sister's husband of years of alleged domestic abuse, isolation, and neglect, culminating in her sister's death. The incident, which has sparked outrage on social media, involves Ebelechukwu Onwudiwe from Umuru village in Ogidi, whose body is currently in a mortuary.
Allegations of Abuse and Family Alienation
Angela, the bereaved sister, took to Facebook to share her grief and anger. She claimed that her sister's husband, Obinna Igbojiuba from Abacha, systematically cut off Ebelechukwu from her family. According to Angela, he prohibited her from visiting or communicating with her relatives for over 15 years, effectively alienating her from her support network.
Angela further alleged that Obinna prevented Ebelechukwu from working, despite her being a graduate of microbiology and brewery from Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK). She stated that he destroyed job opportunities presented by her family and forced her to stay at home without providing adequate financial support for feeding.
Details of the Alleged Maltreatment
In her emotional post, Angela detailed multiple instances of abuse. She claimed her sister endured beatings, verbal abuse, and was often kept hungry along with her only daughter. Additionally, Obinna allegedly banned Ebelechukwu from attending any prayer gatherings, further isolating her.
The situation took a tragic turn when Obinna reportedly failed to inform Ebelechukwu's family about her illness. Angela asserted that he only contacted them on Monday, March 23, 2026, to announce her death and reveal that her body had already been deposited in a mortuary. None of her kinsmen were allowed to see her before this.
Call for Justice and Public Outcry
Angela demanded answers and justice for her sister, urging Ebelechukwu's spirit not to rest until Obinna is held accountable for his alleged actions. She shared a photo of the deceased and wrote passionately, accusing Obinna of being a "wolf in disguise" who married her sister under false pretenses.
Her post has garnered significant attention, highlighting issues of domestic violence and family rights in Nigeria. Angela emphasized that she had previously warned her sister and tried to intervene, but Ebelechukwu chose to stay in the marriage, ultimately suffering what Angela describes as a preventable death.
This case underscores the urgent need for awareness and action against domestic abuse, as families and communities grapple with such heartbreaking losses.
