In a harrowing case that has shocked the community, six men, including a woman's ex-husband, are set to appear in court charged with a total of 60 sexual offences. The alleged crimes span a period of 13 years, from 2010 to 2023, and involve the systematic drugging and assault of the victim.

The principal defendant is Philip Young, 49, formerly from Swindon and now of Enfield. He faces a staggering 56 separate sexual offences. His charges include multiple counts of rape against his ex-wife, Joanne Young, 48. Furthermore, he is charged with administering a substance with intent to stupefy and overpower to allow sexual activity, voyeurism, and possession of indecent and extreme images.
Five other men have also been charged in connection with the investigation. They are:
- Norman Macksoni, 47
- Dean Hamilton, 46
- Conner Sanderson Doyle, 31
- Richard Wilkins, 61
- Mohammed Hassan, 37
Their charges include rape, sexual touching, sexual penetration, and possession of extreme images. All six men are scheduled to appear at Swindon Magistrates' Court.
Victim's Courage and Police Investigation
The victim, Joanne Young, has made the brave decision to waive her automatic legal right to anonymity. She is being supported by specially trained officers from Wiltshire Police. Detective Superintendent Geoff Smith commended her strength, stating the decision followed multiple discussions with officers and support services.
"This is a significant update in what is a complex and extensive investigation," said Detective Superintendent Smith. He emphasised the victim has been supported throughout the entire process.
Legal Proceedings and Public Interest
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised the prosecutions following a detailed police investigation. Specialist Prosecutor James Foster confirmed that prosecutors worked to establish there was sufficient evidence and that pursuing proceedings was in the public interest.
"We have worked closely with Wiltshire Police as they carried out their investigation," Foster stated, highlighting the collaborative effort behind building the case. The upcoming court appearance marks a critical step in a long and distressing ordeal for the victim, as the legal process begins to unfold.
