The Sokoto State Police Command has lost one of its officers, Inspector Adamu Isah, who collapsed and died shortly after participating in the command's weekly Walkathon exercise on Wednesday, September 3, 2026.
Isah, who served in the Department of Operations, fell ill immediately after returning from the fitness walk held at the command headquarters. He was rushed to a hospital without delay, but medical personnel later confirmed that he had passed away.
Police Confirms Death and Pays Tribute
The command's Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa'i, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Thursday, September 2. According to Leadership, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, expressed deep sadness over the loss, calling Isah a committed and professional officer.
“The Sokoto State Police Command is deeply saddened by the sudden and painful loss of our colleague, Inspector Adamu Isah,” Shaffa said in the statement.
Beyond his operational duties, Isah was known within the command as an active sportsman. He played on the command's volleyball team and also practised boxing, making his death a significant blow to the morale of his colleagues.
Condolences and Support for the Family
CP Shaffa extended heartfelt condolences to Isah's family, friends, and colleagues. He assured the family that the command would provide whatever support was necessary during this difficult time. The commissioner also urged officers and men of the command to remain steadfast and draw comfort from the life of service Isah had given to the nation, as reported by Daily Trust.
In his remarks, the commissioner prayed for the peaceful repose of Isah's soul and asked that God grant his family the strength to bear the loss.
